Welcome to Dallas Center-Grimes Community School District!

We are a public school district located in Central Iowa, just northwest of the capital city of Des Moines. Our district currently serves 3,000 students pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade and is growing rapidly. There are seven schools within our district, including four elementary schools: Dallas Center Elementary, South Prairie Elementary, North Ridge Elementary and Heritage Elementary; one 6/7 middle school: Dallas Center-Grimes Middle School; one 8/9 building: Dallas Center-Grimes Meadows; and one high school: Dallas Center-Grimes High School. Our schools serve both the Dallas Center and Grimes communities, as well as open enrolled students. DC-G employs just over 400 dedicated staff members.

The mission of DC-G CSD is, “Empowering Students to Take Charge of Their Future!”  Our administration and teachers strive to provide students with unique and high quality learning opportunities. Our goal is to maintain a small district feel amidst rapid growth, while achieving big district accomplishments.

Our students are National Merit Scholars, Character Counts Award Winners, State Champion Athletes, All-State Musicians and selfless volunteers. They have achieved many great accomplishments. Here are some highlights:

  • Last year, 119 students took the ACT exam. DCG's composite score was 23.4, higher than the state average of 21.9.
  • Just under 80% of our students are involved in extra-curricular activities and represent our school outside the classroom. We have real data that shows participating in extra-curricular activities increases academic performance in the classroom.
  • Last year, 199 students took 311 Advanced Placement exams. That ranked DCG #13 in the AP Index in the entire state.
  • This year alone, our students have served over 7,500 hours giving back to our school and surrounding communities.
  • Last year, over 200 students earned over 2,000 college credits through our concurrent enrollment courses.
